Association for Women In Science Scholarship
The Scholarship Program strives to encourage and reward outstanding women pursuing degrees in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) fields at San Diego colleges and universities. The Scholarship Program annually supports community college, undergraduate, and graduate student women in San Diego County who are pursuing degrees in STEM fields where women are underrepresented. Scholarship funds help support their research projects and/or assist with additional educational expenses. The fields of study of previous AWIS-SD Scholars include Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, and Experimental Psychology. Each AWIS-SD Scholar receives a $1000 Scholarship Award.
Eligibility: Female students actively engaged in a degree program in the 2021-2022 academic year may apply. Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and must be affiliated with an institute of higher learning (College and above) in San Diego County. The award can be used for educational expenses including tuition, books, housing, or research.

National SWESWE Scholarships support women pursuing ABET-accredited baccalaureate or graduate programs in preparation for careers in engineering, engineering technology and computer science in the United States and Mexico. In 2021, SWE disbursed approximately 260 new and renewed scholarships valued at more than $1,180,000. Applicants complete one application and are considered for all scholarships for which they are eligible.

San Diego SWE SectionEvery year the SWE-SD awards monetary scholarships to young women enrolling in engineering schools or university engineering programs leading to a first degree in engineering. Each year the number and amount of our scholarships varies, depending on our corporate and member support.
